Fire at Lincoln Paper & Tissue

Posted On: Feb 05, 2012 (13:31:58)

Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4 and Ladder 1 all responded to LP&T on the evening of February 2 for a fire in the chip silo. After confirming all electric equipment was locked out firefighters began searching for a means to attack the fire, which was confined to the second chip hopper. Firefighters had to go up 6 stories to access the area above the hopper and were able to determine that the fire was out. Companies were back in service before midnight.

Recent Chimney Fires

Posted On: Jan 21, 2012 (00:51:01)

Lincoln Firefighters responded to two chimney fires this past week. Thankfully both resulted in little or no structural damage, but we would like to remind everyone to get their chimneys cleaned and inspected to prevent a possibly deadly fire. Chimney fires are capable of spreading to structural components of your home and causing a serious fire. Never underestimate the destructive nature of fire, if you suspect you have a fire dial 911 and evacuate the building.
